I wanted to love this book。 I really did。 I'm a fan of Lauren and was so excited to receive an ARC copy of the audiobook。 I will say that listening to Graham was one of the best parts of this book。 She has a great voice and is clearly the best person to read her stories to us。 But outside of a few stories that felt fun and personal, this book was ALL over the place。 There was a ton of name dropping and random mumbling and reminders that it didn't matter what she wrote here。。。 they told her she j I wanted to love this book。 I really did。 I'm a fan of Lauren and was so excited to receive an ARC copy of the audiobook。 I will say that listening to Graham was one of the best parts of this book。 She has a great voice and is clearly the best person to read her stories to us。 But outside of a few stories that felt fun and personal, this book was ALL over the place。 There was a ton of name dropping and random mumbling and reminders that it didn't matter what she wrote here。。。 they told her she just needed to get it done。 And while this isn't necessarily a bad thing, it made me feel a little detached。 Some of the stories seemed more like space fillers and some seemed to go from tangent to tangent in a way that just didn't work for me。 Still worth a read or listen if you really enjoyed her other work, but I wouldn;t read it again。 。。。more

Enjoyed this as much as I enjoyed Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls a few years ago! Funny, quick to read, and enjoyable throughout。 My only wish is that the way some of the diet and wellness scenes were recalled didn't have a through-note of internalized fatphobia。 I received a complimentary audiobook from the publisher via libro。fm。 Enjoyed this as much as I enjoyed Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls a few years ago! Thanks to the publisher, via Netgalley, for an advance e-galley for honest review。This book of essays by Lauren Graham is just as funny and charming as you want it to be。 It's filled with loving anecdotes and honest stories about topics like aging in Hollywood and friendship。 Lauren Graham feels like the friend you'd want to have through her writing, and her fans won't be disappointed。 Thanks to the publisher, via Netgalley, for an advance e-galley for honest review。This book of essays by Lauren Graham is just as funny and charming as you want it to be。 It's filled with loving anecdotes and honest stories about topics like aging in Hollywood and friendship。 Lauren Graham feels like the friend you'd want to have through her writing, and her fans won't be disappointed。 。。。more

'Have I told You This Already?' is a funny and compelling collection of essays from actress Lauren Graham。 Her previous memoir focused more on her professional life and her experiences on the set of Gilmore Girls。 This one features more of her personal life and experiences in general and her unique and cleverly funny perspective。 I love her thoughts on storytelling and the effect it's had on her life and vice versa。 Graham is an excellent writer, it's very easy to hear her voice in her written w 'Have I told You This Already?' is a funny and compelling collection of essays from actress Lauren Graham。 Her previous memoir focused more on her professional life and her experiences on the set of Gilmore Girls。 This one features more of her personal life and experiences in general and her unique and cleverly funny perspective。 I love her thoughts on storytelling and the effect it's had on her life and vice versa。 Graham is an excellent writer, it's very easy to hear her voice in her written word。 Thank you to NetGalley and Ballantine (Random House Publishing Group) for the eARC in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

3。5 starsDefinitely fun for me as a fan and I’d love to listen to the audiobook if she narrates! It’s witty and funny at times with a strong opening that hooked me。 But the rest of the essays are all over the place, pretty hit or miss。 I kind of like her rambling style of storytelling, but also wish there was a little more to pull this collection together (I feel like I just don’t read a lot of essays and that’s showing as I read this and try to review it 😂)

Lauren Graham is great company。 I enjoyed this second memoir which she describes in the book as a collection of essays , which it is, but it is also a type of memoir of her careeer struggles and triumphs, her family, her thoughts on aging, and her balanced, practical approach to life。 I read her first memoir, but I don’t remember the specifics of her upbringing。 Most poignant in this collection is her reflection of the departure of her mother when she was only 4 years old。 She rationalizes that Lauren Graham is great company。 I enjoyed this second memoir which she describes in the book as a collection of essays , which it is, but it is also a type of memoir of her careeer struggles and triumphs, her family, her thoughts on aging, and her balanced, practical approach to life。 I read her first memoir, but I don’t remember the specifics of her upbringing。 Most poignant in this collection is her reflection of the departure of her mother when she was only 4 years old。 She rationalizes that it helped her deal with hardship and that she was, and is, surrounded by loving family members including her father, grandmother and siblings。 Yet even in this short passage, you can feel the pain beneath her upbeat, practical persona。It reads like a one-sided conversation where you listen to someone tell anectodes, often humorous, about their life。 She does not reveal much about her recent romantic breakup or even the specifics of her many acting projects。 We hear a little of her foray into screenwriting and a little about the way Hollywood works, but very little personal relegations and nothing negative。And yes, she gives her best guess that Logan is the father of Rory’s child。If she writes another memoir, I would listen to it。 As always, I listened on audio and especially in this case, audio is the way to go。 She is very likable, but hard working and practical。 。。。more

3。5 stars rounded up。A book for fans of Lauren Graham。 If you don't love her and her style already I'm not really sure this would be for you。 Some stories were 5 stars, some stories I zoned out and had to restart。 I love Lauren Graham so I'm glad I listened (love hearing her narration) I'm just not sure I'd recommend this one far and wide。 3。5 stars rounded up。A book for fans of Lauren Graham。 If you don't love her and her style already I'm not really sure this would be for you。 Some stories were 5 stars, some stories I zoned out and had to restart。 I love Lauren Graham so I'm glad I listened (love hearing her narration) I'm just not sure I'd recommend this one far and wide。 。。。more

Another great collection of essays/stories from one of my most favorite actresses/authors of all time。 I love how unapologetically Lauren lives her life and how heartfelt and open she is in this book! Great on audio read by the author, this is another win for me。 Much thanks to @prhaudio for the complimentary audio copy!!

4。5 stars。 Lauren Graham is a truly entertaining lady。 I've definitely enjoyed some of her work as an actress, but she's also become a talented author。 I was actually a big fan of her debut novel, and hope springs eternal that she will return to fiction some day。 That said, it's become clear that her fiction was highly autobiographical as well, so I guess I'll gladly read whatever she writes。Ms。 Graham is a very relatable celebrity。 When she writes of her dues-paying years, you feel her struggle 4。5 stars。 Lauren Graham is a truly entertaining lady。 I've definitely enjoyed some of her work as an actress, but she's also become a talented author。 I was actually a big fan of her debut novel, and hope springs eternal that she will return to fiction some day。 That said, it's become clear that her fiction was highly autobiographical as well, so I guess I'll gladly read whatever she writes。Ms。 Graham is a very relatable celebrity。 When she writes of her dues-paying years, you feel her struggle。 But even when she writes about her Hollywood lifestyle, she come across as a very grounded everywoman。 An everywoman with a great sense of humor, because I laughed aloud a lot while reading this。 Well, listening to it。 I don't usually differentiate the medium in which I consume literature, but Ms。 Graham reads the audiobook with her superlative comic timing, and it is fantastic! She also comes across as quite candid。 Don't get me wrong, she isn't disclosing any more than she wants to, but she does let us peak behind the curtain a bit。 She talks about the hierarchy of celebrity, and how that plays out personally and professionally。 She spills the tea about talk show anecdotes。 It's fun!You may gather from the above that this is a rather frothy confection。 It definitely is, in the best possible way。 But there are occasional moments of poignance as well, such as when she talks about how she handles journalists' questions about growing up without her mother, or in the ode to New York with which she closes the collection。 Ms。 Graham is not a one-trick pony。So, in the end, I have one complaint: This is a short book。 I definitely could have read an essay collection twice as long。 。。。more

Fantastic book! Filled with short stories from Lauren Graham's life。 Many are insightful, inspirational, and just laugh-out-loud funny。 And I rarely laugh when reading books, but found her clever portrayal of situations brought about spontaneous bursts of laughter。 Definitely the mark of a talented writer!! I especially loved the chapter on Mrs。 Jackson, a grandmotherly character created by Lauren to express opinions which sound too adult or too uncool to have come from Laureen。 Mrs。 Jackson's c Fantastic book! Fun for fans。 Graham is a wonderful storyteller and her stories are touching and (most often) funny。 I suspect, though, that only avid fans will really enjoy this book。 I'm a fan, and I read her previous book, so I was excited to read this one, written during the isolation year of Covid。 More snippets about her life and her career, and her musings on aging。 Very enjoyable, but (I suspect) of limited appeal。 Fun for fans。 Graham is a wonderful storyteller and her stories are touching and (most often) funny。 I suspect, though, that only avid fans will really enjoy this book。 I'm a fan, and I read her previous book, so I was excited to read this one, written during the isolation year of Covid。 More snippets about her life and her career, and her musings on aging。 Very enjoyable, but (I suspect) of limited appeal。 。。。more

So, there are some jokes that work in this book of essays and a lot that don’t。 The collection is all over the place。 I’m interested in how movies and TV shows get made, so when she talked about the behind-the-scenes-stuff that those of us who aren’t Hollywood-types wouldn’t know, that was interesting to me。 This is also part memoir, so some of the essays are a little about her struggle to make it or adopting a dog or making marmalade。 Also, even if you achieve a degree of fame, you’re never gua So, there are some jokes that work in this book of essays and a lot that don’t。 The collection is all over the place。 I’m interested in how movies and TV shows get made, so when she talked about the behind-the-scenes-stuff that those of us who aren’t Hollywood-types wouldn’t know, that was interesting to me。 This is also part memoir, so some of the essays are a little about her struggle to make it or adopting a dog or making marmalade。 Also, even if you achieve a degree of fame, you’re never guaranteed to be able to continue making a living as an actor。 This is fun enough and short but not fantastic。 Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to review this novel, which RELEASES NOVEMBER 15, 2022。 。。。more

From the cover art to the last page, Lauren Graham’s latest book is an inviting and fun way to spend a few hours。 Have I Told You This Already? is a series of short, non-fiction snapshots of Lauren’s life and thoughts。 From Nora Ephron’s neck, aging in Hollywood, to NYC, and her brief time with an adopted puppy, she still has me thinking that we’d be close friends if only we’d meet。 I truly enjoyed this, and I think it has a fairly mass appeal。 My thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing From the cover art to the last page, Lauren Graham’s latest book is an inviting and fun way to spend a few hours。 Have I Told You This Already? is a series of short, non-fiction snapshots of Lauren’s life and thoughts。 From Nora Ephron’s neck, aging in Hollywood, to NYC, and her brief time with an adopted puppy, she still has me thinking that we’d be close friends if only we’d meet。 I truly enjoyed this, and I think it has a fairly mass appeal。 My thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group- Ballantine for allowing access to a digital ARC in exchange for my opinion。 。。。more

4。5 stars。 This book was so fun!! I’ve been a fan of Lauren’s since I first watched Gilmore Girls at age 11, and this book picks up where her last book left off。 I loved the structure of the essays, and laughed out loud at some of them。 I could practically *hear* her reading in my head。 Favorite essays of mine included: Boobs of the ‘90s, Old Lady Jackson, Actor-y Factory, Mochi, and New York Is a Person。 I pretty much enjoyed all of the essays, honestly, and thought they all flowed together so 4。5 stars。 This book was so fun!! This is sort of a sequel book of memoirish essays to Lauren Graham's previous book, Talking as Fast as I Can。 I'm not sure this book particularly has anything to recommend it unless you really love Lauren Graham and want to read everything she writes。 There's nothing really revelatory in the book either about her life or career, and there's nothing particularly that interesting in her writing to make this book worth reading。 Pretty much the best thing I can say about it is it's a light, quick re This is sort of a sequel book of memoirish essays to Lauren Graham's previous book, Talking as Fast as I Can。 I'm not sure this book particularly has anything to recommend it unless you really love Lauren Graham and want to read everything she writes。 There's nothing really revelatory in the book either about her life or career, and there's nothing particularly that interesting in her writing to make this book worth reading。 Pretty much the best thing I can say about it is it's a light, quick read if that's what you're looking for。 。。。more
